He moved to Dorset in 2013 and is a full time NHS Consultant Cardiologist based at University Hospitals Dorset. He is also a senior clinical leader and has been the Clinical Director for Medical Specialties since 2017. He has run regional echocardiography conferences in Poole.
Dr Steadman remains active in clinical research acting as a Principal Investigator for cardiology research studies based in Poole and continues to produce publications in the medical literature. He has previously written book chapters in a number of Cardiology textbooks.
Dr Steadman specializes in all aspects of General Cardiology but has a particular interest in advanced cardiovascular imaging including cardiac CT (CT coronary angiography), and cardiac MRI. He is one of the few Consultants in the UK who has Level 3 Accreditation (the highest level) in both cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. He also performs advanced echocardiography (including transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography). He is therefore ideally placed to investigate and diagnose possible cardiac symptoms including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizzy spells and blackouts, or simply to provide a cardiovascular health check. He can also treat all common cardiac conditions. He has a particular clinical interest in valve disease, where his clinical research was focused, and cardiomyopathy.
