Dr Andrew Jordan

Dr Jordan qualified from Oxford University before completing junior doctor training in Oxford and at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. He was appointed to the Gawthorn Research Fellowship whilst a Registrar, undertaking research concerning raised blood pressure, cardiac MRI and microvascular function with the University of Exeter. His academic work has led to first author publications in major peer-reviewed journals, including “Circulation” and “Journal of Human Hypertension”.
For NHS work, he is a consultant cardiologist at University Hospitals Dorset, working at both Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals, where he treats a wide range of cardiac conditions, including those presenting with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, lightheadedness and blackouts.

In Poole, his clinic is recognised by the British and Irish Hypertension Society as a specialist referral centre for the diagnosis and treatment of raised blood pressure. In addition, he has established the only Dorset-based joint clinic with consultants in obstetrics and anaesthesia, caring for people with heart problems during pregnancy.

Dr Jordan has a passion for teaching and supporting trainees. He is presently an educational and clinical supervisor for junior doctors, provides regular teaching sessions for University of Southampton medical students and is frequently asked to present at speaking events for hospital colleagues, GPs and the public.

Outside of medicine, he lives with his young family in Wimborne and plays the violin in a local orchestra. He is a keen skier and football enthusiast.

Clinical Interests

Dr Jordan has a subspecialty interest in the non-invasive diagnosis of cardiac disease and maintains internationally-recognised accreditation in advanced echocardiography and cardiac MRI. He also has clinical interests in hypertension, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, cardiac pacemakers and sports cardiology.
